Back to School

On August 25th, Zach returned to school in the 4th grade...this year he has Mr. Malloy and gets to work on an Apple laptop every day thanks to a computer education grant. On August 31st Grace started kindergarten with Mrs. Patrick and loves every minute of it; she won't even use the bathroom at school because she doesn't want to miss anything! I also started back to work at Kodiak High School on August 24th. I work in the office 3 hours a day as the Parent Facilitator (I do the monthly school newsletter and work under a grant throught the district's federal program office that does outreach to migrant education students).

Uncle Jake is here for a visit!

Well we've had a "family-filled" summer...12 days after Don & Debi (aka Pa & Ma) left Kodiak, my brother Jake arrived on 8/12...he got off the plane at 7:15am and we were on the boat fishing by 10:30am, we caught several small (20-40 lbs each) halibut. We've gone salmon fishing 2x so far & Jake seems to be a natural sport fisherman. Grace has been attched to Jake since he arrives, we're calling her his "spider-howler monkey". Then this Sunday, my mom, Jill & step-dad, Russ, arrive for a visit. Jake is scheudled to leave on 8/19 and then Grammie & Russ on 8/22. Although, we didn't travel this summer, we sure got our fill of family.

In-Laws left this morning

Don & Debi left this morning, now just 10 days to recover until my brother gets here on 8/11 and my mom & stepdad on 8/16 thru 8/22. We had a nice visit with the in-laws with 1/2 good weather & 1/2 bad weather. We did a lot of fishing, hanging out & projects with the kids. Grace even put on a talent show with her harmonica. Chad & I got to get away to Anchorage and that was really nice, thanks to the in-laws for watching the kids while we were gone...anyways, i'll put some pictures up in the next few days...

so only 2 more days with Pa & Ma (aka Don & Debi) before they leave for home...then my brother jake gets here on august 11th followed by my mom & step-dad on august 16th...i'm just glad we didn't have to travel at all with the kids this summer...chad & i went to anchorage last week (july 20-22), we went with 3 bags & came home with 9 (got a good deal on some nice luggage), the only down side of the trip is that our hotel charged to use the gym ($10 on 1st day & $5 each additional day), so needless to say i went that whole week without working out...another "yucky" day here in kodiak with fog, clouds & some rain, we'll have to find something fun to do INSIDE!!!

So I am giving this "blogging" thing a try...I think I'll use it as a way of journaling and letting our families & friends know what's going on day to day with us.

Today I cleaned all morning & most of the afternoon becasue my in-laws, Don & Debi (aka Pa & Ma) are coming for their annual visit. They arrive here in Kodaik at 7:12am tomorrow morning and are staying thru July 30th. Chad & I are also taking a trip to Anchorage for 3 days while they stay here with Zack & Grace, since it is our 10-year anniversary this summer (August 28th)
